Countertechnique
The Countertechnique® class is a contemporary dance technique class. It stretches, coordinates and strengthens the body, making the dancer sweat, build stamina and really move. The class starts with a recurring set of exercises, allowing dancers to investigate the Countertechnique® principles in detail. The second half of the class consists of changing components, working towards luscious movement combinations and jumping at the end.
The Countertechnique® class results in dancers using less energy, losing their fear of taking risks and gaining speed in changing direction.

By continuously and sequentially directing and counter directing parts of the body through space, Countertechnique® allows the moving dancer to work with an ever-changing dynamic balance. This dynamic balance reduces the pressure on the overall body structure and can be changed at any given moment. The consistent use of the counter direction in all movements is key to the technique; both the awareness and application of this principle is trained throughout the Countertechnique® class.

CONTEMPORARY Forms & Flow

Contemporary forms and flow offers tools that engender availability to a wide range of movement styles. Classes combine fundamental and familiar technical exercises (floor work, standing exercises in center, and phrase work) with other physical practices (improvisation, breath and energy work, etc) that support the development of performance presence, a fuller range of movement, and the ability to fluidly move through dynamic qualities. Class is open level but moves quickly. Shannon has trained in various contemporary practices in the US, Canada and Europe from ballet to breakdancing to Gaga and Gyrokinesis®.

THE Dance Fellowship
ALL - LEVELS IMPROV
Dance Fellowship makes movement improvisation available to all levels of movers, focusing on continuous guided improvisation where dancers work with their own curiosity and experiment in a safe and supportive community.

Dance Lab(s)
Focus on experimentation and expansive dance practices that include improvisation, partner and group activities, tuning into self, others, and environment. Tools from somatics, gaga, tuning scores, forsythe improvisation, raves, martial arts and whatever your imagination can conjure.
This is a space for different people in our community and for visiting artists to teach their research and practices.

GYROKINESIS®
Online
The Gyrokinesis Method is a movement method that addresses the entire body, opening energy pathways, stimulating the nervous system, increasing range of motion and creating functional strength through rhythmic, flowing movement sequences. It is an original and unique method which coordinates movement, breath and mental focus.
The Gyrokinesis Method is practiced in group or private classes.
